Singular
[edit]@Amakuru: How do you propose to make the introduction singular? (You moved the article back) Christian75 (talk) 07:38, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Christian75: there is no particular requirement that the bolded term in the article lead has to match the title of the article when it comes to singular/plural. The lead would be phrased in the way that best introduces the topic, which this one currently does. See for example mammal, which is about a class of animals and whose lead uses the plural, but where the title is singular. While the title is expected to conform to overall titling policies, and in particular to consider whether the term is predominantly considered plural or singular in sources. In the case of alkali metals, (and probably therefore alkaline earth metals too), the two terms are virtually tied in book usage, which means that our general preference for the singular from WP:NCPLURAL should apply. Anyway, the bottom line is that this was discussed already at Talk:Alkali_metal#Requested_move_28_February_2019 and there was no consensus to move it, so if you wish to make a move you'll have to propose it at a fresh WP:RM discussion and provide evidence as to why the current set-up is wrong. Calcium-48
[edit]"Calcium-48 is the lightest nuclide to undergo double beta decay, as it is a nuclide with both even proton and neutron numbers and subsequently energetically forbidden to undergo single beta decays." But it is not; it is just that its single beta decay has not been observed. 14.52.231.91 (talk) 00:28, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
